Snow Day - Take Two

Ella wanted to go sledding today, but we did not have a sled, so we improvised and used a cardboard box. After Ella slid down the driveway the first time she said "I wanna go cardboarding again".

When Pop-pop heard about our sled/box he brought us a real sled.

Then we took this cutie outside for a few minutes.

Snow Day

Today we had a fun snow day. Ella was out of school and Ken was able to work from home, so during a quick break these two headed out for a good time.

Ella was really excited about throwing snowballs at Ken. She also tried to make a snow angel but seeing how our snow was more like ice it didn't work so well.

We brought some snow in for Olivia to play with. She liked it ...at first.

And then she made this face right before knocking her bowl of snow onto the rug.

Now we are enjoying some vegetable soup.

Actually this is mine...vegetable soup, hold the vegetables.

Clothes War

My children do not want to wear the clothes that I want them to wear. Olivia is constantly taking her socks, shoes and bow off. One day last week we went out to do some errands, when I went to get Olivia out of the car I could not find her shoes anywhere. I knew that I had put them on her before we left the house. Well, this is what I found laying in the carport when we got home. Two pretty little gold shoes.

Ella is another story. She feels like she should dress "normal" everyday. When I ask her what normal is she says "like a rock star, all of the other kids dress like rock stars". I guess that the days of smocked dresses, mary janes and all of the other clothes that I love might be coming to a screeching halt soon. She may start dressing "normal" but their will be a big bow in her hair...maybe even two!

Brunch with Ballerinas

Today Ella and I went to the Brushmark Restaurant at the Brooks Museum with our friends Jessica and Ashton. They had a special brunch with some of the ballerinas that will be performing in Sleeping Beauty. They had a special "kid friendly" menu for the day. I am not sure who's kids like almonds and bananas on their pancakes, surely not mine, but they let us order everything plain.

Tea Party

The other day Ella wanted to have a tea party with Olivia. They did really good for the first couple of minutes, then Olivia wasn't "doing it right" according to Ella. I mean what baby doesn't know the proper way to sip tea.

Olivia is thrilled by the whole thing. Can't you see the enthusiasm all over her face?

Ella is trying to school Olivia on the finer points of tea drinking.

8 months

Yesterday Olivia turned 8 months old! She is getting so big. She has three teeth, can crawl and pull up on anything, and she has even started cruising around things. When the phone rings she makes a sound that sounds like she is saying "hi". She can drink out of a straw and prefers table food over baby food. She claps, waves (sometimes) and is always trying to do various things that we tell her not to do, like climbing into Ella's dollhouse. The poor dog can't find his food bowl because we have to keep moving it so Olivia will stay out of it. This month I think we need to work on the definition of NO!

Christmas with Nana and Grandpa Bob

Each year we go to Ken's parents house on New Years Day to exchange gifts. We tried to get a picture of Ella, Olivia and their cousin Connor, but he wasn't up for having his picture taken. This was the best I could get of Ella and Olivia together.

Olivia was really excited to open her presents. She got some clothes, nesting buckets, a purse, a walking toy and lots of other things.

Ella got what every 5 year old needs-makeup! She also got clothes, a video, gift cards, and an American Girl doll which she loves. Is it normal to change your doll's name every 5 minutes?

I love this picture of Olivia.

Easy-Bake Oven

Ella got an Easy-Bake oven for Christmas and has been wanting to try it out. So the other day she got busy baking.

It seemed like the cooking and cooling time took an eternity. Ella kept staring at the timer on the stove and giving me a play by play as it counted down.

The finished product.

So what was Olivia doing during all of this baking. Her favorite thing of course. Pulling all of the Wii games and movies off of the shelf.

Letters from Ella

Ella has been coming home from school with "letters" for me. She really likes to write and she is pretty good at sounding out all of the words by herself. The first one says "Jesus loves me this I know". She probably has that song playing in her head all day long because we are constantly singing it to Olivia (she loves it).

This one says "God I love you I see trees of green I am happy as can be". Her teacher has taught her sign language to "What A Wonderful World" and she has been singing it for a couple of months now, so that is probably where some of that "letter" came from.

My girls

This is Olivia. She is beautiful, easy going, a momma's girl and she lights up when she sees her big sister.

This is Ella. She is beautiful, smart, thoughtful, kind and a great helper.
