New Outfits

I have a problem, really.

I like to visit fabric stores and I like to buy lots of yardage on each visit.

I am really trying to use up some of the fabric that I have been holding onto. Some of it is new and some of it is scraps from other projects.

Like this fun yellow print that I used in the baby blanket I made for my nephew and the zebra fabric that I used for Ella's 6th birthday outfit and the black and white polka dot that was used in Disney outfits.

I couldn't resist these easy flowers.

I was a little skeptical as I was sewing all this busy fabric, but the moment I put it on her I knew it was quite possibly my favorite outfit ever!

Ella even agreed to a skirt and a few fabric flowers.

She even smiled and said "thank you, my mom made it for me" when she got compliments on it today!

And Ken was happy too, because I didn't have to go to the fabric store for!

My cousin Amy got married a few weeks ago, so we all traveled to Louisville for the wedding. Here's a few pictures of my cute nephew and his mommy and daddy at the wedding.

Back To School

It's that time of year again.

Ella had her first day of school today and let's just say she was less than thrilled.

It kinda snuck up on us this year. I didn't even get any supplies till this weekend.

I also decided yesterday that I needed to make her something for her first day of second grade.

Sadly we are nearing the end of her willingness to wear mommy made things.

She finally agreed to a ruffle on a denim skirt.

Special thanks to Shea for appliqueing the shirt for me late last night and bringing it to me at midnight.

She understands the importance of having a new outfit and my problem with waiting till the last minute.

I also decided yesterday that I needed to make something for Ella's teacher.

Nothing like a gift to start the year off right.

I copied this idea, but changed it up a little.

I am so excited about this school year. I have heard wonderful things about her teacher and Ella has several of the same kids in her class that she had in Kindergarten and First grade.

When I picked Ella up this afternoon she seemed a little more excited.

It's probably because her teacher said she would give her a candy bar for her birthday.

Lucky Number 7

Today Ella turned 7 years old!

We celebrated with a party and sleepover last night.

Ella has been wanting Taylor Swift tickets, but they were sold out. What she didn't know was that we went together with Ken's parents months ago to buy 2 tickets. She was speechless when she opened up the card with the ticket.

She got lots of other things too, like makeup, a backpack, watches, jewelry, movies and candy. She also got some money and gift cards which she plans on using to buy a cell phone.

We were kinda tricked into the cell phone thing. She has been asking for a long time for one and we have always said no. One day she asked if she could save her money to buy one herself. Ken and I both said yes, thinking she would never save up enough to pay for a monthly cell bill. She excitedly said "Great, they have pay as you go phones at Target for $40".

What? How did she know that?

What's even worse is Ken signed a contract agreeing to the whole thing.

I have no clue who she is going to call.

The girls had fun painting nails, doing hair and make-up and eating ice cream sundaes.

We were going to put up a water slide, but the yard was too muddy from a downpour of rain. So the kiddie pool and sprinkler had to do.

For goodie bags I made all the girls a beach bag.

and my awesome friend Shea monogrammed the towels for me!

Happy Birthday Ella, we love you so much!
